TransExpress Cargo Ltd (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy
explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it,
and the rights you have over it. It applies to this website and to our freight forwarding,
customs clearing and logistics services.

1. Who is responsible for your data

TransExpress Cargo Ltd is the data controller. We operate from Entebbe, Uganda and Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada. For any privacy question, contact

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details — name, company, email address, telephone or
    WhatsApp number, and postal address.
  • Quotation and booking details — origin and destination, commodity
    description, weight, volume, container type, service required and preferred currency.
  • Consignee and shipper details — where you provide details of another
    party so that we can arrange carriage or delivery.
  • Customs and compliance data — tax identification numbers (such as a
    URA TIN), commercial invoices, packing lists, licences and permits, and for vehicle
    imports the VIN, year of manufacture and title documents.
  • Correspondence — messages you send us by email, contact form or
    messaging application.

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, device type, operating system and referring page.
  • Pages visited and actions taken on this website.
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see section 7).

We do not collect payment card numbers through this website.

4. Who we share it with

To move your cargo we must share relevant details with third parties, including:

  • Carriers — shipping lines, airlines, hauliers and rail operators.
  • Overseas agents and clearing agents at origin, transit and destination.
  • Customs and government authorities, including the Uganda Revenue Authority,
    the Canada Border Services Agency, UNBS and equivalent bodies, where required by law.
  • Terminals, ports, warehouses and inspection agencies.
  • Insurers where cargo insurance is arranged at your request.
  • Professional advisers and, where necessary, debt recovery agents.
  • Service providers that host our website and mail systems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for
third-party advertising.

5. International transfers

International freight is by nature cross-border. Your information will be transferred to
countries involved in your shipment, which may have different data protection standards than
your own. We share only what is necessary to perform the service or to satisfy a legal
obligation, and we require our agents to keep it confidential.

6. How long we keep it

  • Quotation enquiries that do not become bookings — up to 24 months.
  • Shipment, customs and accounting records — retained for the period
    required by tax and customs law, which is generally 6 years and may be
    longer in some jurisdictions.
  • Marketing preferences — until you withdraw consent.

7. Cookies

This website uses cookies to keep the site working correctly, remember your preferences,
maintain security and understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your
browser settings, but some parts of the site may then not work as intended.

8. Security

We use HTTPS encryption across the website, restrict access to shipment and customer records
to authorised staff, protect our administrative areas with anti-automation checks, and monitor
for unauthorised access. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and you send information
to us at your own risk.

9. Your rights

Subject to the law applying to you, you may:

  • request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete information we no longer need (this does not override customs, tax or
    other statutory retention duties);
  • object to or ask us to restrict certain processing;
  • request your information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent to marketing at any time;
  • complain to the data protection authority in your country. In Uganda this is the Personal
    Data Protection Office; in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

within the period required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.

10. Children

Our services are directed at businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children.

11. Third-party links

This website may link to carrier tracking pages and other third-party sites. We are not
responsible for their content or privacy practices.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The revision date at the top of this page shows
when it was last changed, and material changes will be highlighted on this page.
